You Can’t Have Both; But You Can Have It All

knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. .
Romans 6:9-11

Pastor Kerry asked, “What language do you speak?” Is it the language of death or life?

My problem is I want to be bilingual. And I think that I can do it. No matter how many times scripture makes it clear that I face a choice; that it is God’s way or the highway. I still think I can have it both ways. I think I can run my own life; I just need a little help from time to time. I think I can handle sin. I can control it; it won’t control me. And when I mess up, God will bail me out.

Give it up, Nick. I can have life or death. I can have sin or God. I can live the life I was meant to live or I can exist in a living death. What’s it going to be?

It’s not that God provides little helps to get us through. He provides a whole new life. “Eternal life was the life which Jesus Christ exhibited on the human plane, and it is the same life, not a copy of it, which is manifested in our mortal flesh when we are born of God. Eternal life is not a gift from God, eternal life is the gift of God.”

I think I want a little bit of God. But that’s not an option. It’s all or nothing. “If it is difficult to get right with God, it is because we will not decide definitely about sin. Immediately we do decide, the full life of God comes in.”

We can’t have both: a little of our old life of sin and a little of the new life God offers; but we can have it all: All that counts, all that matters, all that’s worth anything.

Let Go. Let God and Have it All.

Be Blessed.

Nick
