"Look unto Me" and – not "you will be saved," but "you are saved."

As a group we are incredibly gullible people; we are also lazy with short attention spans. I could go on but I’ve already depressed myself. Just a year ago, millions thought, “Now it’s going to be different. Now it’s gonna change. A savior is here” Now, a very different group is saying the same thing. A wise man once said,  “As a group we are incredibly gullible people; we are also lazy with short attention spans.” Oh, yea, that was me. When Group 1 was all aglow a year ago, Group 2 (the ones that are aglow now) were saying, “Government is not your savior.” Don’t forget your own words, Group 2.

“Look unto Me” and – not “you will be saved,” but “you are saved.” These words don’t apply to Obama or Brown or to your Daddy, your boy friend or your cat. They apply to Jesus and if you apply them to anyone else you will prove the wisdom of that wise one who said, “As a group we are incredibly gullible people; we are also lazy with short attention spans.” Although that might be great for me, not so good for you.

It’s a good thing to be involved in government. Without the involvement of good people, well, just look what happens. (Now group 1  and group 2 are nodding but looking in different directions.) We need active and involved people: People involved in government, community, family and church. Too often Christians have been spectators. We need to be action people. But we need to keep our eyes in the right direction. It is way too easy to focus on what men are doing. That’s doesn’t happen when you’re looking at God.

Perhaps America has gone too far to stop looking to government for answers, since both sides are doing it now. The Church can lead the next and the real move for change, not by influencing the direction of election, although that’s undeniably important, but by leading a change in the direction of the nation’s gaze.

The creator says “Look unto Me” and no where else. He promises more than a future salvation or answers to current problems. He promises Current Salvation. The act of looking is salvation in itself.

Congratulations Group 1 and Group 2. Your involvement in politics is commendable. But as my company commander used to yell at us in boot camp, “Eyes Front” and when you look up front, you see Jesus.

Gazed and be blessed… and yes, be saved.
